Separate sealed bids for construction of the East View Street Stormwater Drainage Improvements Project will be received by the City of Galax at the City Manager’s Office, located in the Municipal Building located at 111 East Grayson Street, Galax, Virginia until 2:00 p.m. local time on   July 24, 2019   and then at said location publicly opened and read aloud.

The project involves replacement of existing storm drainage pipes along East View Street in the City of Galax. Construction includes approximately 1,800 LF of 60” and smaller storm sewer, relocation of approximately 750 LF 14″ and smaller water line, relocation of approximately 1,200 LF of 12″ and smaller sewer line, street repaving, and related improvements.

Printed copies of the Bidding Documents may be obtained from the Issuing Office, during the hours indicated above. Contractors have the option to purchase an electronic set of bidding documents (Adobe PDF Format) for a $50.00 non- refundable fee or sets of hard copy Bid Documents upon payment of $200.00 (non-refundable) for each set. Checks for Bidding Documents shall be payable to The Lane Group. Upon request and receipt of the document deposit indicated above plus a non-refundable shipping charge, the Issuing Office will transmit the Bidding Documents via delivery service. The shipping charge amount will depend on the shipping method selected by the prospective Bidder. The date that the Bidding Documents are transmitted by the Issuing Office will be considered the Bidder’s date of receipt of the Bidding Documents. Partial sets of Bidding Documents will not be available from the Issuing Office. Neither Owner nor Engineer will be responsible for full or partial sets of Bidding Documents, including Addenda if any, obtained from sources other than the Issuing Office.

The procedure for withdrawal of bids shall be according to provision “(ii)” contained in 11-54, Code of Virginia (1950) as amended.

If a contract is for one hundred twenty thousand dollars ($120,000) or more, or if the total value of all construction, removal, repair, or improvements undertaken by the bidder within any twelve-month period is seven hundred fifty thousand dollars ($750,000) or more, the bidder is required under Title 54, Chapter 11, Code of Virginia (1950) as amended, to show evidence of being licensed as a “Class A Contractor.” The bidder shall place on the outside of the envelope containing the bid and shall place in the bid over his signature the following notation:
